  • To be considered for field placement within Journey’s Trauma Services department an individual MUST:  

    1. Be a 2nd year Masters level social work or counseling student who is currently enrolled in a CACREP and/or CSWE accredited institution. We do not accept counseling students applying for practicum; we only accept counseling students completing their internship.

    2. Be willing to commit to a full year and commit to least 10 to 20 hours a week.  Individuals applying for an internship under 200 hours or less than 1 semester may be approved at discretion of the supervisor.

    3. Have actual or scholastic experience delivering individual therapy services and completing mental health assessments.

    4. Have knowledge of the mental health field and trauma informed care and/or experience working with individuals with a mental health disorder in a trauma informed atmosphere. 

    5. Have willingness to learn and work in an electronic health record.  

    6. Be willing to work from Journey’s administrative offices and will be able to complete their expected internship hours between Monday-Thursday 9a-7p and Friday 10a-5p. Journey currently does not have weekend hours of operation. 

  • Journey Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time Mental Health Therapist/Clinician to provide mental health services to children a who have been impacted by domestic violence and/or child abuse. This role is essential in providing high-quality mental health services to individuals and families who have experienced trauma. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a commitment to fostering a supportive environment for clients.

    Position and job type: Full-time, Exempt, Salary $50,000 - $55,000. Hybrid work available

    Duties include but not limited to:

    • Provide mental health services including diagnostic assessments, individual behavioral health therapy, group behavioral health therapy, and telehealth therapy

    • Develop personalized treatment plans based on clients' goals and needs

    • Provide information and referrals as needed

    • Maintain full case load and accompanying electronic health records while adhering to HIPAA regulations regarding client confidentiality

    • Maintain current licensure in the state of Ohio

    • Implement crisis intervention strategies and manage crisis situations effectively

    • Regularly attend scheduled staff and MDT meetings, group and individual supervision

    • Represent Journey Center in public speaking engagements, education and training programs

    • Able to promote discussions regarding supportive, collaborative, healthy relationships

    • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and solution-focused therapy

    Required Qualifications:

    • Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling required

    • LSW or LPC required

    • LISW or LPCC preferred

  • Journey Center for Safety and Healing is seeking a PRN (as needed) advocate for our confidential shelter.

    Work hours vary depending on the need, some evening needed.

    Position and job type: PRN. Hourly rate $15.75

    Duties include but not limited to:

    • Answering 24-Hour Helpline

    • Offering information and referrals

    • Performing phone intakes

    • Providing crisis intervention, advocacy, information and referral to shelter residents

    • Determining eligibility of individuals requesting shelter

    • Providing ongoing support and case management to residents

    • Mediating conflict among shelter residents

    • Maintaining documentation

    • Walking facility

    • Light housekeeping

    • Engaging with residents

    • Checking for safety and sanitation

    • Participating in shift change

    Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field or equivalent years of experience preferred. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Journey Center for Safety and Healing (formerly known as Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center) is seeking part time Visitation Monitors for our Safe and Sound Supervised Visitation Center.

    Work hours are Friday-Sunday. We are closed major holidays. This position is a continuous need. Hourly rate $15.75

    Duties include, but not limited to:

    • Monitor visits between parents and children

    • Monitor exchanges of children between parents

    • Model and teach appropriate parent-child behavior

    High School diploma and two years working with youth and families required. Qualified applicants must have a working knowledge of domestic violence and child abuse issues. Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred. Bilingual in Spanish & English a plus.

  • The Community Advocate provides case management, support, safety planning, and advocacy services to victims of domestic violence. This role focuses on empowering clients to increase safety, achieve goals, maintain safe housing, and build self-sufficiency while fostering wellness and healthy relationships. The Community Advocate collaborates with internal teams, external partner agencies and stakeholders. The Community Advocate ensures to deliver trauma-informed case management services to clients. The services are delivered in accordance with the agency’s mission, and best practices.

    Position and job type: Full-time, Non-exempt, Starting Hourly rate $19.23

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    1. Manage a caseload of community clients, providing domestic violence education, self-sufficiency coaching, financial literacy and tenancy guidance. 

    2. Provide case management, including crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, and referrals to appropriate resources.

    3. Maintain accurate documentation in database.

    4. Meet with all assigned clients monthly to review established goals, address concerns, and celebrate successes.

    5. Assist clients in accessing and maintaining entitlements and linkages to community resources including, but not limited to, Social Security Administration, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Division of Children and Family Services, employment, housing, State Victim Assistance Compensation, SNAP, medical coverage, SSI, CHIP, and financial and relocation assistance.

    6. Assess the lethality of a client’s situation and provide ongoing safety planning services.

    7. Attend and contribute to all agency meeting, community meetings, and agency trainings as needed.

    8. Build relationships with public and private service providers to advocate for client needs.

    9. Provide support for clients and listen to clients with a non-judgmental attitude

    10. Maintain accurate and timely case records in the agency’s database, documenting all services provided in compliance with agency standards. 

    11. Explain victim rights under Ohio law, orient victims to criminal justice system, including protection orders.

    12. Assess needs and goals with clients and ensure they are connected to any additional internal services; provide warm hand-offs, and coordinate services with other Journey Center departments to ensure holistic client care.

    13. Collaborate with internal teams to enhance service delivery.

    14. Ensure services are provided to clients with trauma-informed, empowerment-centered practices and in compliance with any relevant funding restrictions and accreditation requirements.

    15. Support Helpline shifts on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

    16. Participate in staff meetings and other meetings as needed

      ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Journey Center is seeking a Full-Time Supportive Services Manager who is responsible for overseeing all direct client services at Journey Center for Safety and Healing’s Emergency Shelter. The Supportive Services Manager provides oversight of the day-to-day operation at shelter and programming including groups, shelter activities and direct supervision to Coordinators and Advocates and ensures services delivered to clients are carried out in accordance with the agency’s mission and best practices. 

    Position and job type:   Full-time, Salary Exempt, Salary range 50k-52k

    Duties include but not limited to: 

    • Oversee all aspects of the emergency shelter

    • Supervise emergency shelter staff

    • Maintain relationships with outside agencies and relationships with internal staff to promote transitions out of shelter

    • Rotating schedule of on call duties

    • Oversee delivery of client services

    • Oversee delivery of programming

    • Shelter process Quality Assurance

    • Knowledge of fiscal aspect of shelter programs

    • Assist with providing coverage of shelter

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of work experience required

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience providing supervision preferred

    • Experience working with victims of trauma, domestic violence and/or child abuse preferred

    • Valid driver’s license required

    Schedule: Work hours are Monday-Friday, some evening and non-traditional hours required

  • The DVHI Manager is responsible for administrative and operational oversight of the Domestic Violence Housing Initiative (DVHI) at Journey Center for Safety and Healing. The DVHI Manager provides oversight of the day-today operations of the DVHI program and will provide support and/or supervision to members of the DVHI team. The DVHI Manager will ensure work with the DVHI core services are delivered in accordance with the agency’s mission and best practices. This position plays an important leadership role within the agency serving as a member of the Leadership Team and working with leaders and staff within the agency.

    Position and job type:   Full-time, Salary Exempt, Salary range 50k-52k

    Duties include but not limited to: 

    1. Oversee the delivery of Housing and Community advocacy services, including, but not limited to: 

      • Provide support to DVHI staff; including but not limited to case management support

      • Provide direct supervision to Housing Navigator, Intake Specialist and support to Housing Coordinator

      • Ensure all services operate utilizing a Client/Family Centered Approach

      • Oversee and manage the timeliness of documentation including RRH applications, assessments, individualized service plans and progress notes

      • Assist and supervise staff’s ability to assess client’s needs, identify options, and assist with goal selection and achievement

      • Domestic violence, self-sufficiency, financial, and tenancy rights education

      • Oversee data collection in Osnium both accurately and on a timely basis and auditing records for inaccuracies

      2. Liaise with Eden to provide DV HUD Bonus Rapid Rehousing services, as well as provide information to Journey staff and partner agencies to complete appropriate paperwork for program referrals

      3. Create and implement new program specific projects

      4. Ensure and maintain compliance with funder requirements

      5. Responsible for all fiscal aspects of the program including, but not limited to:

      • Understand the agency budget and program budget

      • Read and understand a program P&L including budget variances

      • Understand administrative overhead

      • Review and approve employee expense reports for propriety, accuracy and completeness

      • Review employee timecards for accuracy to actual time worked

      • Understand program funding sources and corresponding program and funding compliance with Finance team

      • Review grant billing / remaining balances monthly to ensure complete and accurate spend down of award

      • Work with Director of shelter and crisis housing services to propose grant program and budget adjustments to Finance staff

      • Manage staffing levels to funding resources and working within the parameters of the budget

      6. Oversee the documentation, maintenance, and termination of community client records to ensure the documented services provided to clients are in accordance with agency standards and funders. Along with the storage of client files to ensure confidentiality and best practices.

      7. Provide training and support for professional development

      8. On a monthly basis, perform regular quality assurance reviews of client files to ensure completeness, accuracy, proper documentation of delivered services and compliance with agency and funding standards.

      9. Assist in developing and implementing quality assurance measures to ensure quality service delivery to clients

      10. In collaboration with the Shelter Leadership, maintain accurate statistics of community and housing advocacy services.

      11. Provide a supportive environment for staff and clients and listen with a non-judgmental attitude

      12. Utilize evidence-based modalities, specifically Trauma Informed Care and The Housing First Model

      13. Make appropriate recommendations to the Shelter Leadership regarding organizational policies, procedures, and protocols

      14. Attend and contribute to all agency and community meetings as appropriate for the position

      • Bachelor Degree or equivalent years’ of relevant experience is required

      • Experience working with victims of domestic violence and child abuse preferred

      • Possess an understanding of client centered approach and client self-determination preferred

    6.      Provide a supportive environment for clients and listen to clients with a non-judgmental attitude

    7.      Respond to any crisis situations that arise during the shift and when necessary, notify the appropriate staff members

    8.      Develop and maintain case records in agency database that document services provided to clients in accordance with agency standards and funders
